The short version: post your own outfits, be kind, keep it clean, vote honestly, and everybody enjoys the party.

1. What this place is for

Owambe Meter celebrates owambe style: aso ebi, agbada, gele, fila, jewellery, the whole look. We want it to be fun, generous and safe for everyone, from the person posting their first outfit to the one with the whole floor watching. These guidelines are part of our Terms of Service.

2. What belongs here

  • Your own outfit photos and short videos from owambes, weddings, naming ceremonies, birthdays and other celebrations.
  • Warm, honest reactions. Hype what you love. Compliment the stitching, the colours, the fit.
  • Fashion talk: who made it, where to get the fabric, how it was tied.

Rule of thumb

If you would be comfortable with your grandmother, your pastor and your boss watching it on a big screen at the party, it probably belongs here.

3. What is not allowed

We remove content, and may suspend accounts, for any of the following:

  • Nudity and sexual content. No nudity, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive material, or sexual solicitation. Outfits are the point, not exposure.
  • Anyone under 18. No photos or videos in which anyone under 18 can be identified, and no accounts for people under 18.
  • Violence and dangerous acts. No graphic violence, threats, weapons used to intimidate, or content that encourages self-harm or dangerous behaviour.
  • Harassment, hate and abuse. No bullying, insults aimed at a person, or attacks on people for their ethnicity, tribe, religion, gender, disability, body or any other personal characteristic. Critiquing a look is fine; attacking the person is not.
  • Privacy violations. No posting other people’s private information, or photos and videos of identifiable people without their consent. No filming people in private spaces, such as changing rooms or restrooms.
  • Impersonation. No pretending to be another person, a celebrity, a brand, or an official account.
  • Spam, scams and fraud. No fake giveaways, money-doubling schemes, phishing, “send money to unlock” messages, repeated unwanted promotion, or links to harmful sites.
  • Cheating the rankings. No fake accounts, bots, vote swaps, paid votes, or any trick to inflate or sabotage scores, likes or Spray Notes.
  • Illegal activity. Nothing that breaks the law or helps others to, including selling illegal goods or services.
  • Stolen work. Only post what you made or have permission to post. See our Copyright & Takedown policy.
  • Misleading tags or credits. Tag only people genuinely connected to the look and use an accurate role. Anyone tagged can remove themselves, and repeated unwanted tagging may lead to restrictions.

4. Nights out

Club nights, lounges, after-parties and day parties are welcome. The same rules apply, plus a few that matter more after dark:

  • Ask before you post someone. People out at night may not want to be seen there. Only post others who are happy to appear, and remove a moment if someone asks.
  • The look is the point. No nudity or sexual content, however late it is.
  • No drugs, no weapons, and nothing that glorifies dangerous drinking or driving after drinking.
  • Don’t throw real naira on camera. Spraying or stepping on naira notes can breach the law on abusing the currency. Spray Notes exist so you can celebrate without that risk.
  • Guest lists stay private at club nights. Club-night pages never show who is on the floor; only the looks people choose to post are public. At after-parties, guests can choose to show they are there, and nobody is shown unless they opt in.

5. Respecting the people in your posts

Many of your photos and videos will have friends and family in them. Before you post, make sure everyone who can be identified is an adult and is happy to appear on a public page. If someone asks you to take a post down, please do. If someone posts you without your consent, report it and we will act.

6. Playing fair

Rankings only mean something if votes are real. One person gets one account and one vote per look. We use automatic checks to spot cheating, and we may remove votes, reset scores, or close accounts that cheat.

7. Reporting something

Use the report option on any post to tell us what is wrong and why. You can also email safety@owambemeter.com. Reports are confidential: we do not tell people who reported them.

For anything that puts a person in danger, or involves a child, email us immediately and, if someone is in immediate danger, contact the police or emergency services first.

8. What we do about it

Posts that pass our automatic technical processing are published straight away. We do not review each one before it appears; instead we respond to reports and run our own checks afterwards. Depending on how serious and how repeated the problem is, we may:

  1. remove the content and explain why;
  2. limit what the account can do for a while (for example uploading or messaging);
  3. remove votes or reset scores that were gained unfairly;
  4. suspend or permanently close the account; and
  5. report unlawful activity to the authorities, and preserve evidence where the law requires.

Serious violations, such as anything involving children, sexual content or threats, can lead to an immediate permanent ban with no warning.

9. Child safety

We have zero tolerance for any content that sexualises or endangers children. We remove it, close the accounts involved, preserve information as the law requires, and report it to the relevant authorities. Owambe Meter is for people 18 and over only. If you see anything involving a child, report it at once to safety@owambemeter.com.

10. If you disagree with a decision

If we remove your content or restrict your account and you think we made a mistake, email support@owambemeter.com within 14 days with the account name and what happened. A person who was not involved in the original decision will look at it, and we will reply with the outcome.
